James Clancy
Coach Clancy currently serves as the Campus Athletic Director & Head Football Coach for the Klein Cain Hurricanes, a role he has served in since the school started in January of 2017. In the first 5 varsity football seasons, Coach Clancy has led the Hurricanes to the playoffs 5 consecutive years, winning 4 straight bi-district titles, and capturing the school’s first district Championship in 2022, which earned him district coach of the year honors. He took the opportunity to return to Klein ISD after his first Head Coaching job at Strake Jesuit College Preparatory in Houston, where he rebuilt the Crusaders into a playoff program, guiding the school to win its first ever Area Championship in 2015. Prior to achieving his first head coaching position at the age of 29, he enjoyed a successful stint as the co-offensive coordinator and Quarterbacks coach at Klein Oak High School from 2007-2012, contributing to two district championships, 2 bi-district titles, an area championship, and a regional final appearance in 2008.
He has tutored & mentored hundreds of student-athletes over his career,seeing his student-athletes achieve district, local, and state honors,many going onto play at varying levels of college football. An active member in professional organizations, he just finished his 2nd term as president of the GHFCA ( Greater Houston Football Coaches Association), is also an active member of the AFCA (American Football Coaches Association) and THSCA (Texas High School Football Coaches Association) respectively.
He received his masters degree in education administration from Lamar University and his undergraduate degree from Oklahoma State University where he was a player and student assistant. He is a native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he graduated from Bishop Kelley High School.
Coach Clancy is happily married to his wife Alison, and is the proud father of 3; Chloe, Brody and Carly.
